I Thought This Was a Graduate Program

When Evan Cole sees an offer of free tuition, accommodation, and a full scholarship, he thinks he has found the perfect graduate program. Instead, an old wooden door pulls him into another world, where he becomes the first new student assigned to the Department of Experimental Magic in more than eighty years.

There he meets Elowen, Mara, and Tessa, three senior students from different worlds whose ages are far greater than their appearances suggest. At this academy, registration can end with a student being launched across a room, a magical aptitude test looks suspiciously like a scratch card, and a casual card game can become a full-scale battle.

As Evan learns to live and study in a world of magic, his modern-day assumptions collide with the academy’s peculiar rules. Between misunderstandings, experiments, friendships, and spectacular magical mishaps, he begins to find his place in the strangest graduate program imaginable.
