Advice to creators
Start with the story you genuinely want to tell, then find the smallest practical way to bring it to life. You do not need to build an entire studio or produce a perfect first episode before beginning. Learn the tools available to you, plan your scenes carefully, and create a manageable production workflow. Focus on finishing something that demonstrates your vision.
What would you say to people who have great story ideas but feel unable to produce them because they lack budget, equipment, connections, or experience? What advice would you give them to help take the first step?

Please briefly introduce yourself and your creative team. Who are you, where are you based, and how did you begin your journey into filmmaking and storytelling?
I’m the founder of Kazi Entertainment Labs, an independent entertainment venture based in India. I began my journey with a passion for filmmaking, screenwriting, and creating stories that could connect with audiences around the world. As an independent creator, I’m building original intellectual properties using a combination of storytelling, cinematic direction, and emerging AI-assisted production technologies. My approach is to bring ambitious ideas to life through a focused, resource-conscious workflow without compromising the story, characters, or visual experience.

What inspired you to create micro-dramas? Was there a particular moment, story, platform, or opportunity that made you think, "I want to do this"?
What attracted me to micro-dramas was the opportunity to tell compelling stories in a format that respects the audience’s time while still delivering suspense, emotion, and cinematic impact.
I believe a strong story shouldn’t depend entirely on a massive budget or traditional studio infrastructure. New production technologies and short-form distribution platforms are creating opportunities for independent creators to experiment, build original IP, and reach international audiences. For me, the challenge is to combine the intensity of cinematic storytelling with the immediacy of episodic content, giving viewers a reason to keep watching.

Please introduce the series you created. What is the story about? What makes it special to you, and how do you hope audiences will feel while watching it?
ADAM: BLACKSITE is an original animated action-thriller about an elite operative who awakens inside a secret offshore prison with his memories erased but his deadly combat instincts intact. As he fights to escape, he begins uncovering a dangerous mystery surrounding his identity and the organization holding him captive. What makes this series special to me is the combination of grounded action, cinematic world-building, psychological mystery, and a larger story designed to unfold over multiple episodes. Season 1 is complete, comprising five finished episodes with over 22 minutes of content in total. I want audiences to feel immersed in Adam’s journey, experience the tension of his escape, and finish each episode wanting to discover what happens next.

What does your production process look like? Could you take us behind the scenes, from the initial concept to the finished production, and explain how you complete each step?
Our production process begins with story development, screenplay writing, character design, and visual planning. We then develop keyframes and reference images to establish the appearance of characters, environments, and important scenes. Using an AI-assisted workflow, we develop and animate shots while maintaining visual continuity, cinematic composition, action choreography, and character performance. We then edit the generated footage, refine pacing, and integrate dialogue, sound effects, music, and other post-production elements. The process combines creative direction and human decision-making with AI production tools. Every shot must serve the story, and the final edit is assembled to feel like a cohesive series rather than a collection of disconnected generated clips.

As independent creators, what has been the most difficult part? What have you learned that could help others avoid similar challenges?
One of the biggest challenges has been turning an ambitious cinematic vision into a finished series with limited resources, while maintaining consistency across characters, environments, action sequences, and episodes. AI-assisted production can make certain stages more accessible, but it does not eliminate the challenges of directing, continuity, editing, storytelling, or quality control. Every production decision matters, particularly when time and credits are limited. My biggest lesson has been to plan carefully, establish a repeatable workflow, prioritize the shots that matter most, and focus on completing the project rather than endlessly experimenting.

What makes a micro-drama successful in your view? When each episode is so short, what keeps audiences watching and makes them eager to see the next episode?
I believe a successful micro-drama needs a clear central conflict, immediate stakes, emotionally engaging characters, and a strong reason to watch the next episode. Short runtime makes every moment important. Scenes should move the story forward, reveal something meaningful, or change the situation for the characters. Strong reveals, unanswered questions, escalating danger, and well-earned cliffhangers can encourage viewers to continue. Visual spectacle can attract attention, but it is the story and the audience’s investment in the characters that give a series lasting potential.

What would you say to people who have great story ideas but feel unable to produce them because they lack budget, equipment, connections, or experience? What advice would you give them to help take the first step?
Start with the story you genuinely want to tell, then find the smallest practical way to bring it to life. You do not need to build an entire studio or produce a perfect first episode before beginning. Learn the tools available to you, plan your scenes carefully, and create a manageable production workflow. Focus on finishing something that demonstrates your vision. A completed short, proof of concept, or pilot can be more valuable than a large project that never gets finished. Most importantly, keep learning. New technology can help you overcome certain barriers, but storytelling, persistence, and creative judgment remain essential.

After completing your series, what challenges did you encounter when bringing it to audiences? How important are distribution and audience reach for independent creators?
Completing a series is a major milestone, but reaching the right audience is a separate challenge. Independent creators must not only produce compelling content but also identify suitable platforms, build industry relationships, communicate the value of their IP, and navigate different distribution requirements. For ADAM: BLACKSITE, we have completed Season 1 and prepared both widescreen and vertical versions. Our next challenge is connecting the series with platforms and distribution partners whose audiences and formats suit the project. Distribution is essential because a completed series needs visibility, discoverability, and the opportunity to build a real audience. I see partnerships as an important step toward developing the franchise sustainably.

What has your experience been like working with HeyRuby? Is there anything about its approach to creators, distribution model, royalty structure, promotional methods, or platform that you have found particularly meaningful?
As a new creator joining HeyRuby, I am still at the beginning of my experience with the platform, so I cannot yet evaluate its results or promotional effectiveness firsthand. What interests me is the opportunity to bring original episodic storytelling to another audience and explore a creator-focused distribution model. I am particularly interested in understanding how audience engagement, paid episode unlocks, creator analytics, and promotional opportunities can help independent series grow. I look forward to learning from the platform, understanding its audience, and discovering how ADAM: BLACKSITE can find its place within the community.

What are your plans for the future? What are you currently working on, and what would you like to create next? Where can people follow and support your work?
My immediate focus is developing Season 2 of ADAM: BLACKSITE following interest from distribution partners, while continuing to explore licensing and distribution opportunities for the completed first season. Beyond this series, Kazi Entertainment Labs is building a slate of original screen properties with potential for expansion across episodes, formats, and international audiences. For ADAM, the broader story architecture extends beyond the first season, giving us room to develop the characters and world over time. I want to continue combining cinematic storytelling with emerging production technologies and create ambitious entertainment that independent creators can bring to audiences around the world.
People can follow ADAM: BLACKSITE and Kazi Entertainment Labs through our official channels and our HeyRuby creator profile as new releases and updates become available. I also welcome connections with viewers, producers, distributors, and creative collaborators who share an interest in original storytelling.
